Fashion Pulis Gossip Blogger Arrested

The owner of this gossip column Michael Sy Lim, who is also a professor, freelance host and wedding singer, got arrested in 2015 over a libel complaint. The camp of Deniece Cornejo filed the case. The police arrested him because of posing a blog on that website. It revealed Deniece Cornejo’s leaked medical report. 

The Philippine National Police indeed arrested him around 11:30 , Women and Children Protection according to a report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit. Healthway leaked the medical report. It was taken away when Cornejo was allegedly raped by actor Vhong Navarro. The report said Cornejo may have had a sexually transmitted disease. 

In a statement, Atty Ferdinand Topacio said, “The arrest today of Mr Michael Sy Lim aka Fashion Pulis is a vindication of the rights of my client, Ms Deniece Cornejo, and more importantly, it sends the message that cyberbullying and victim-bashing, in whatever form and from whichever source, has no place in civilized discourse.”

He also added “While the free expression is indispensable in a democracy, that freedom must be exercised responsibly and with due regard to the rights of women to privacy and decency. Rights must not be used to violate the rights of others.”

Lim experienced a lot of backlash from other celebrities because of this. In the light of all this, he tweeted. “Held in the CIDG office. Sad how people abuse libel to curtail press freedom.”
